09/02/13: An agreement has been reached with CBS Corporation. Customers can now view programming on WWJ (CBS) and WKBD (The CW) in Detroit, WTOG (The CW) in Tampa, and KCAL in Bakersfield, as well as Showtime, The Movie Channel, Flix, Smithsonian, and CBS Primetime On Demand in all markets. In addition, Bright House Networks customers can now access the free video content on CBS’ website.
It is important for our customers to know that we carry hundreds of channels – and agreements are being negotiated and renewed all the time. Normally, these situations are resolved. Our customers’ satisfaction is our ultimate goal.
It’s naïve to think that rising costs don’t ultimately affect the consumer. That's why we work hard to keep deals fair. Every year, new agreements are reached with TV stations and cable networks. Most of the time, you never hear about them. Sometimes, we are forced to take a stand to protect our customers and our business.
Sometimes during negotiations, programmers remove channels. This is an unnecessary and EXTREME measure that puts our mutual customers in the middle. Many channel owners do not disrupt our mutual customers while an agreement is being reached.
There is no need to switch providers. Every television provider is in the same boat, including satellite and telephone companies, when it comes time for contracts to be renewed. DirecTV, Dish Network and AT&T have had similar fights, and Verizon and other new providers will encounter the same situation as they renew their agreements.
